Austrian mealnames going english!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, yet another time!
Aren't languages funny? The meal I'd like to post the recipe for today is called "Semmelkren" in Austria, the english word of which - translated word-by-word - would be "Roll(Semmel)horseradish(kren)". So for now let's just call it ... ahem... Horseradish-Bread-Sauce. Sounds decent enough.

What ever the correct translation would be, preparing the meal is as easy as it can get. So let's dive right into it:

Horseradish-Bread-Sauce with Potatoes and smoked Tofu cubes


Ingredients:
  • 200g bread cubes
  • ~35g Horseradish (depending on how spicy you want the sauce)
  • some vegetable soup
  • 6-8 Potatoes
  • 125g smoked Tofu
  • some plant oil
First cook your potatoes. How you do that is up to you - I personally prefer to peel them first and then cook them in saltwater until they get ... well soft I guess. While they cook you can start making the sauce. 


Grate the horseradish, then put your bread cubes into a small pot and start cooking them with your soup. It should become a thick mash before you add the radish. After you added the horseradish cook the sauce for another 5-10 minutes (so it can spread its flavor). At this point the sacue is basically ready to be eaten, but I tend to mix it for a few seconds - just so it becomes a little smoother but still has some bread cubes pieces in it.

Once you're done with your sauce - or while it's cooking - take your tofu and cube it up (like I did in the picture above). Then fry them in a pan with a little dash of oil until they're nice and crispy.

Then serve as shown in the picture below.. or in any other way you like! As long as you enjoy eating it, I couldn't care less...
